Green Profits Award from Groundwork Cheshire

Tullis Russell Coaters Ltd has been awarded a Green Profits Award by Groundwork Cheshire. This was for outstanding achievements over the last 5 years in energy, water and waste efficiency that in turn generated "green" profits. Currently the annual cost savings each year stand at £374,000.

Businesses from across Cheshire have been recognised for increasing profits and reducing their carbon footprint with the Green Profits Award. These companies have partnered with Groundwork Cheshire and made significant resource efficiencies with minimal or no outlay.

Paul Williams, Safety & Environmental Office, who has worked with Groundwork's Resource Efficiency team since 2004, said "He was very proud to accept the Award as some of the company's no cost or low cost energy saving measures have reduced its carbon footprint by 17 per cent."

Paul continued:"One of the most significant cost savings has been a 34 per cent reduction in the energy required for heating our offices. We now plan to roll out the same measures to other parts of the site."

Ian Melton, Programme Manager at Groundwork Cheshire said "It is refreshing to be working with a traditional manufacturing company, with a 200-year history, who through environmental best practice, has become more profitable and continually strives to keep one step ahead of its competitors."
