Using Dry Strip Transfers
Printing dry release transfers
|
Firstly, a clear lacquer downcoat is applied by screen.
Inks are then printed in negative form, within the boundaries of the downcoat.
The whole design is then overprinted with a pressure sensitive adhesive, in register with the downcoat. This must not overlap the downcoat.
A release liner (a silicone paper or film) is then applied.
Applying dry release transfers
|
The release liner is peeled away and the transfer applied face down.
The transfer is then well rubbed to remove any air bubbles and finally the base paper is peeled away to leave the transfer securely in place.
In order to facilitate the positioning of the transfer, an outline of the design can be printed on the back of the base paper, to be used as a guide when applying the transfer.
